Big Bear Mountain Water tastes great for several reasons. Two of the greatest of these are the way we bottle our crisp water and our constant focus on the quality of our operations. Let's take a look:

Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis, also known as hyperfiltration, is a process that allows the removal of natural particles as small as ions from our water. Reverse osmosis is used to purify Big Bear Mountain Water and remove salts and other impurities in order to enhance its natural properties. The process uses a membrane that is semi-permeable, allowing the water that is being purified to pass through it, while rejecting unwanted particles that remain.

Our reverse osmosis technology uses a process known as Crossflow that allows the membrane to continually clean itself—ensuring quality with every pass. As some of the water passes through the membrane, the rest continues downstream, sweeping natural impurities away from the membrane. The reverse-osmosis process requires a high-pressure pump to push the fluid through the membrane. As the concentration of the water particles being rejected increases, the driving force required to concentrate the water increases.

Our reverse-osmosis process is capable of rejecting bacteria, salts, sugars, proteins, particles, dyes, and other constituents that occur naturally in water. We have put these processes in place to further ensure the quality of our water—bottled at our protected source and delivered directly to you.


PureBright® Purification Technology

Quality control is of the utmost importance to the San Manuel Bottled Water Group. As a leader in the industry, the company has taken every measure to provide the purest water to consumers by using a state-of-the-art, purification technology called PureBright. Use of this new technology will give customers the highest assurance there is no contamination in Big Bear Mountain Bottled Water.

This technology is more effective than employing single-standard commercial treatments like chlorination, ozonation and any number of filtration methods.

PureBright will be utilized in the second phase of the purification process for Big Bear Mountain Bottled Water. PureBright uses broad spectrum pulsed light to eliminate all living organisms in the water, ensuring the consumer the cleanest and purest water available. This cutting edge technology eliminates the nucleic acid of all cells in the water and is 90,000 times more powerful than sunlight at sea level.

The elimination of all contaminants through the use of PureBright makes the product beneficial to Big Bear Mountain Water consumers with sensitive immune systems.

The San Manuel Bottled Water Group will begin using this new purification technology beginning in May 2002; making it the first company in the United States to employ PureBright. PureBright is a product of PurePulse Technologies, Inc, a subsidiary of Maxwell Technologies, Inc. The company was founded in 1988 to develop and commercialize advanced, innovative sterilization and purification methods. The PureBright technology was originally adopted by the medical industry for sterilization methods.


Beyond Quality Assurance

The San Manuel Bottled Water Group is constantly searching for new ways to go above and beyond the required minimums for the Big Bear Mountain Water varieties. Here are some of the things we're doing:

• Laboratory sample checks are conducted on a regular basis by our qualified Water Engineers.

• Our procedures are creating a new standard for water quality assurance far in excess of all federal and state water standards.
